Uttarakhand cloudburst: A rainstorm wreaked havoc in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district early Thursday morning. Several houses in the Kuntri Langafali ward of the Nandanagar Ghat zone were veiled under debris, leaving at least seven people missing. The district wardship has intensified relief and rescue operations.
According to the District Disaster Management Center, two of the seven people veiled under the trash have been rescued, while the search for the remaining five is ongoing. The incident has caused panic in the area. The local wardship has begun preparations to shift the people to relief camps.

Chamoli District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari told ANI, "The rainstorm has caused massive forfeiture in the Nandanagar Ghat area. Six houses in Kuntri Langafali ward were veiled under debris. Seven people are missing, while two have been rescued safely. SDRF, NDRF and tehsil teams have reached the spot. Relief and rescue operations are underway.

Relief work accelerated
The wardship said roads were stuff opened with the help of JCBs to indulge relief teams to reach the unauthentic areas. DM Tiwari said, "We hope that relief teams will reach the unauthentic areas within the next 30 to 45 minutes. Relief centers have been identified and local people will be shifted to safer locations."

It's worth noting that in August, landslides in parts of Nandanagar caused cracks in several houses. At that time, the wardship evacuated unauthentic families to safer locations. This time, the rainstorm has exacerbated the situation.
