Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday urged Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant to protect the country's constitution, democracy, and judiciary. Speaking at the inauguration of the Jalpaiguri Circuit Bench towers of the Calcutta High Court, Banerjee moreover appealed to Justice Surya Kant to protect the people of the country from what she described as stuff wrongly targeted by inside agencies.
What was Mamata Banerjee’s message for the CJI?
"Please save the country's Constitution, democracy, judiciary, history, and geography from destruction. You (the Chief Justice) are the guardian of our Constitution; we are under your legal protection. Please protect the people," Mamata Banerjee said in her message to CJI Surya Kant.
"Nowadays, there is a trend of media trials plane surpassing cases are settled; this too must be stopped," the West Bengal Chief Minister added.
Justice Surya Kant was moreover present at the event.
What was Mamata Banerjee’s statement on West Midnapore?
