New Delhi: India suffered a major wrack-up with their fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah injured for the upcoming two-match Test series versus Sri Lanka scheduled from August 15, his place has been taken by Jammu and Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said, confirming that the pacer had yet to overcome an injury sustained during the ODI series in England.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI ) said on Monday that Jammu and Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi received the much-awaited India call-up and replaced Jasprit Bumrah in the Test squad for the series versus Sri Lanka given the latter’s unavailability due to injury.

Auqib Nabi has had a successful season so far and is all set to make his India debut. The Jammu and Kashmir pacer moreover featured in India A squad that visited Sri Lanka on tour. He has perfectly picked 104 wickets in last two seasons of Ranji Trophy and scalped 6 wickets in 2025-26 season alone. Nabi holds a career-haul of 261 wickets from all formats that consists of 162 from first-class, 56 from List A and 43 in T20 cricket.
