Sports News: India's heartbreak at Lord's has left every fan wondering. With 2-1 down in the series, the Indian will now have to fight bravely to level the series at Old Trafford, Manchester. However, a former Indian skipper and batter is not happy with India's batting performance in the third test match. Despite having a batting order that is well backed by genuine all-rounders, India failed to chase a mediocre total of 193. Except for KL Rahul (39) and Ravindra Jadeja (61*), no other batter even crossed the 20-run mark, leaving the nation in disappointment. Sourav Ganguly has expressed his disappointment after India's batting failure.
Ganguly is disappointed
Speaking at an event on Tuesday, the former cricketer and ex-BCCI chief expressed his disappointment. He feels that India should have chased down this target. "A little bit disappointed. With the way India batted in this series, they should have got this 190. When you saw Jadeja fight and score the runs, you saw the batting quality in this team, and they will be more disappointed than I am because it was an opportunity to get 2-1 up in the series against England."
"I am sure that they will be disappointed not getting to 190, especially with the quality of batsmanship they have in that dressing room. If there was even a little bit of fight from the top, this game would have been India’s match," he said.
"He is a special player": Ganguly on Jadeja
The former cricketer hailed Ravindra Jadeja's efforts to bring India close to the target. "“Jadeja has been exceptional; he is going to continue to play for India as long as he bats and performs like this. He has been around for a long time. He has played some 80 Test matches and more than 200 one-day games. You can see him batting, bowling, and fielding. He is a special player, and his batting has really improved over the years with the experience. He is a special player and a very important part of this team,” he added.
Next test, Manchester
India will play their fourth test against England at Old Trafford, Manchester. With 2-1 down in the five-match series, this is India's chance to stay alive in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The match will begin on Wednesday, 23rd July. England have already announced their squad and have included Liam Dawson in place of the inured Shoaib Bashir.
