The second edition of the five-match series between England and India will begin on July 2 in Birmingham. There will be five games in the series.
This was the first match of India's tour of England, and they were defeated by the side at Leeds. A devastating five-wicket loss was inflicted upon Shubman Gill and his team during the first test match of the five-match series against the Three Lions.
The lower-order batting of India was incredibly awful, and their bowling, with the exception of Jasprit Bumrah, was equally poor. Additionally, their fielding was embarrassingly poor.
Rishabh Pant struck hundreds in both innings, and KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal each scored a hundred runs. During the match, Karun Nair scored 0 and 20 runs, which was a dismal performance for his first time playing international cricket.
The next match in the series is scheduled to begin on July 2 during the Birmingham game. Take a look at the five players that have the potential to be removed from the lineup for the second game:
Shardul Thakur
The all-rounder was unable to demonstrate his value as a batsman in addition to his bowling abilities. Thakur only managed to score five runs over the course of two innings and only managed to take two wickets.
It is clear that the captain of Leeds, Shubman Gill, did not have a great deal of faith in his bowling talents, as evidenced by the fact that he was only allowed to bowl 16 overs throughout the entire game.
Ravindra Jadeja
In the encounter that took place in Leeds, the veteran all-rounder contributed 11 runs and 25 runs without being out while only taking one wicket. In spite of the fact that there were sufficient rough areas on the surface, Jadeja was unable to make the most of the occasion.
Bumrah, Jasprit
Despite the fact that he took five wickets in the first game of the series, the right-arm bowler is not concerned about his playing form. India needs to do a better job of managing his workload.
Considering that there is just a three-day break between the second and third matches, it is possible that he will be rested for the Birmingham Test. They are in desperate need of his services during the third match that will take place at Lord's.
