The Big Eco Carnival: A Fun Day for a Green City
To kick off the plan, the team held a huge party called the BIG ECO Carnival. This wasn't a normal party. It was a fun day all about helping the planet.

What Was There: The carnival had games, music, and lots of stalls. But everything had an eco-friendly twist.
Cool Things You Could See and Do
The carnival was designed to be fun and educational. Here are some of the activities that people loved.

Eco-Friendly Market: There was a market with over 20 small shops and NGOs. They sold things made from recycled materials. You could find bags made from old clothes, toys made from wood, and much more.

Learning Workshops: There were live shows that taught families how to manage their waste at home. They showed how to separate wet waste (like food) from dry waste (like plastic). This makes recycling much easier.

Music and Games: The evening ended with a live music show by Super Singer Kizhakkuvaasi Chanderan. There were also games for kids that taught them about the environment.
How Many People Joined?
The carnival was a massive success. It wasn't just a small gathering.

Over 18,600 people came to the event at Rock Beach.

Because of all the talk about the event, the message reached more than 75,000 people. That's a lot of people learning about keeping Puducherry clean!
Even the Chief Minister of Puducherry, Thiru. N. Rangasamy, and the Tourism Minister, Thiru. K. Lakshminarayanan, came to the event. They said it was a great thing for the city and its environment.
What Has the Plan Already Achieved?
The Namma Ooru Namma Gethu plan has already done some real, solid things for Puducherry. It's not just about talk.
One of the best things they did was with plastic bottles. Instead of letting them pile up in trash, they collected them and turned them into something useful.
They created heavy, strong benches made entirely from recycled plastic. Each bench weighs 90 kilograms! These benches were given to the Puducherry Tourism Department. Soon, you will be able to see and use 12 of these benches at places like Chunambar and Nonankuppam. So, your old plastic bottle could become part of a bench where you sit and enjoy the view!
What's Next for Namma Ooru Namma Gethu?
The carnival was just the start. The Namma Ooru Namma Gethu team has more good stuff planned to make the city look better.

Painting the Town: They plan to beautify important streets across Puducherry. This means they will clean them up and maybe add plants or art to make them more beautiful.
