International News: The Israeli military said on Sunday that seven drones launched toward Israel were successfully intercepted by the Israeli Air Force and Navy.
According to the official news agency of Israel, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said that the seven drones were intercepted within the past hour as they approached Israeli territory. All drones were reportedly launched from Iran, the military said. As per the Israeli newspaper, they published footage released by the IDF, showing a Navy missile boat intercepting one of the incoming UAVs. In a separate statement, the military confirmed that the Israeli Air Force identified and struck multiple ballistic missile launchers inside Iran, attaching video clips of the airstrikes.
Tensions continued to escalate between Israel and Iran for the third straight day on Sunday, as the two sides launched attacks on each other overnight. Early Sunday morning, the Israeli military claimed to have targeted Iran’s Ministry of Defence headquarters in Tehran, as well as several other strategic locations allegedly linked to Iran’s nuclear weapons program.
Meanwhile, Iran launched a new wave of missile attacks against Israel. Iranian state television announced the development around 3:10 a.m. local time (11:40 p.m. GMT Saturday), stating, “A new wave of Operation Honest Promise 3 began a few minutes ago,” while broadcasting live footage from Israel.
According to Iran’s state news agency, Iranian air defence forces shot down another Israeli F-35 fighter jet over the western region of Iran. The Iranian Army’s Public Relations Office issued a statement claiming the aircraft had been destroyed and that the pilot’s fate remains unknown and is under investigation.
Back in Israel, President Isaac Herzog mourns over the civilian killed from the Iranian missile strikes overnight.
In a post on X, he says, "Our sisters and brothers were murdered and injured last night by criminal Iranian attacks against the civilian population in Bat Yam, Tamra and other communities. Jews and Arabs, veteran citizens and new immigrants, including children and the elderly, women and men."
"I share in the heavy mourning of the families and grieve the terrible loss. I pray for the recovery of the injured and for the finding of the missing. We will mourn together. We will overcome together," he said.
