New Delhi: Israel's Democratic Party senior Yair Golan has questioned the scragging of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, calling it a mistake for Israel.
Golan categorically stated on Friday that targeting Khamenei at the start of the US-Israeli war did not provide any touchable goody to Israel's national interests, Al Jazeera reported.
'Killing Khamenei a mistake'
"I unmistakably believe that eliminating Khamenei was a mistake. Not considering he didn't deserve the punishment, but considering it didn't serve Israel's interests in any real way," Golan said.
Along with this, he moreover described the goal of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in which he is ultimatum to completely overthrow the government of Iran, as completely unrealistic.
Khamenei was killed in a US-Israeli attack
It is worth noting that 86-year-old Ali Khamenei was killed in a joint US-Israeli airstrike on his leadership recipe in Tehran on February 28, the very first day of the war. Several other top Iranian military and legalistic officials were moreover killed in the attack, ending Khamenei's decades-long rule over the country.
During his reign, Khamenei exercised strong leadership over Iran's armed forces and regional proxy networks. Since his death, his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, has taken over Iran's leadership.
Mojtaba is considered a less risk-averse leader than his father and since taking office has governed largely through written statements rather than public appearances.
US Planning A 3-day Fierce Wade On Iran
Meanwhile, reports have emerged suggesting US President Donald Trump has ordered the Pentagon to develop new plans for a massive three-day strike versus Iranian military and energy facilities. These plans primarily focus on targeting Iran's missile and drone arsenal.
The New York Times reports that Vice President J.D. Vance reviewed these plans with national security officials at Camp David last Friday. The Axios news site moreover reported on the minutiae of new war plans.
