Washington: After well-nigh two and a half hours meeting, US President Donald Trump said that "nothing definitive" had been reached with Iran without talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
What did Donald Trump say?
After Netanyahu and Trump had a discussion overdue the sealed doors, the US president said that no major decisions were made but described it as a "very good meeting".
“It was a very good meeting, the tremendous relationship between our two Countries continues,” Trump said.
After meeting with the Israeli counterpart on Wednesday, Trump in a social media post on Truth Social said that, "There was nothing definitive reached other than I insisted that negotiations with Iran protract to see whether or not a deal can be consummated."
Trump moreover said that the US talks with Iran would continue, as he pushes for Tehran to concede to a list of demands.
The US President moreover warned of consequences if negotiations fail.
"Last time Iran decided that they were largest off not making a deal, they were hit with Midnight Hammer — that did not work well for them," he said, referring to the June 2025 US strikes on Iran’s three main nuclear sites.
"Hopefully this time they will be increasingly reasonable and responsible," he added.
What well-nigh Oman meeting?
The Wednesday's meeting came just days without the indirect US and Iran talks in Oman last week, which was described as having been constructive.
Trump in an interview on Tuesday had said that an Iran deal must ensure "no nuclear weapons, no missiles."
"We took out their nuclear power last time, and we'll have to see if we take out increasingly this time," the US president said.
What did Netanyahu say?
After the Wednesday's meeting, Netanyahu's office in a statement said that "The Prime Minister emphasized the security needs of the State of Israel in the context of the negotiations, and the two well-set to protract their tropical coordination and tight contact."
