New Delhi: The Delhi High Magistrate held a crucial hearing on Thursday regarding social objector Sonam Wangchuk's indefinite hunger strike. The Central government unpreventable the magistrate that government doctors are constantly monitoring Wangchuk's health and that if any medical intervention is needed, the necessary steps will be taken immediately, based on the doctors' advice.
The matter came to light during the hearing of a petition seeking firsthand medical sustentation in view of Wangchuk's deteriorating health condition.

During the hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Central government, informed the magistrate that government doctors and experts are continuously monitoring Wangchuk's health. He stated that if the medical team recommends any treatment or other assistance, the government will immediately take necessary action. What was demanded in the petition?
This public interest litigation was filed by well-wisher Rakesh Kumar Saini. The petition sought directions to the Central government and the Delhi government to ensure Sonam Wangchuk's safety and, if necessary, hospitalization and proper treatment. It moreover sought to provide him with essential nutrients, vitamins, and a liquid nutrition to maintain his health.
Sonam Wangchuk has been on an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar since June 28. His primary demand is the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He alleged that various viewing irregularities, including the NEET paper leak, require an impartial investigation and accountability.
According to Dr. Satish Lamba, a senior physician monitoring Wangchuk's health, he has lost approximately 500 grams in the past 24 hours.
