Heartbreaking Incident in UP Class 7 Student Collapses at School Gate, Dies Minutes Later

Published: Jul 04, 2025

Uttar Pradesh: An extremely painful and shocking incident has been reported from Barabanki district in Uttar Pradesh. Akhil Pratap Singh, a 12-year-old student of Class 7 at the prestigious St. Anthony School, tragically passed away on the very first day after the summer vacation. The incident has plunged not only his family but the entire local community into deep grief and shock.

Collapse at the School Gate

According to reports, the school reopened on Tuesday, 2nd July. Akhil had reached the school by car, accompanied by his father. As he stepped out of the vehicle and walked towards the school gate, he suddenly lost balance and collapsed to the ground. The school staff and his father acted quickly and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead. He was later taken to Chandan Hospital in Lucknow for further treatment, but his life could not be saved.

Possible Case of 'Silent Heart Attack'

Doctors and family members confirmed that Akhil had no prior medical conditions. He was not suffering from any illness and was not under any kind of medication. Based on the initial medical assessment, doctors suspect this could be a case of a silent heart attack—a condition where a heart attack occurs without the usual visible symptoms. Although more common in adults, such incidents have increasingly been reported among children and teenagers in recent years.

Family and School in Mourning

The sudden demise of Akhil has left his family devastated. He was his parents' only child. In response to the tragedy, the school management expressed deep condolences and announced a day of mourning by closing the school. Teachers and staff described Akhil as a bright student and a well-behaved child who was loved by everyone.

Health Experts Raise Concern

Medical experts emphasize that while rare, sudden cardiac arrest and related heart issues can also affect children. Dr. Rajesh Kushwaha, General Physician at the District Hospital in Barabanki, stated that routine health checkups are becoming increasingly necessary for children. Factors such as an erratic lifestyle, poor dietary habits, and inadequate sleep may unknowingly contribute to serious health risks, even at a young age.

A Wake-Up Call for Parents and Schools

Akhil’s untimely death is not just a personal loss but also serves as a wake-up call for society. The incident highlights the urgent need for greater awareness about children’s health. Even if a child seems perfectly healthy, routine medical checkups should never be overlooked.

The tragic loss of 12-year-old Akhil makes it painfully clear that ‘silent heart attacks’ are no longer limited to adults or the elderly. Every parent, school, and guardian must prioritize both the physical and mental well-being of children. It’s time for families, educational institutions, and communities to come together and implement proactive health measures to safeguard the younger generation.
