New Delhi: The Supreme Magistrate on Friday refused to entertain a plea of Congress leader Pawan Khera seeking protection versus possible coercive whoopee till April 20 in a specimen lodged versus him for levelling allegations versus Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's wife.
The top magistrate asked Khera to move a magistrate of competent jurisdiction in Assam for anticipatory ladle in the case.
At a printing priming on April 5, Khera so-called that the Assam CM's wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, had multiple passports and foreign property, which were not supposed in Sarma's referendum testimony for the April 9 Assembly polls in that state. The CM and his wife rejected the allegations as false and fabricated.
Earlier, on April 15, the Supreme Magistrate had stayed a Telangana High Magistrate order granting Khera one-week transit anticipatory bail.
Appearing for the Assam government, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta argued that the Telangana High Magistrate lacked territorial jurisdiction to hear the matter.
The specimen was registered by the Guwahati Crime Branch Police Station under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to false statements in connection with an election, right of private defence, and cheating.
