Shillong: In the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, Sonam, the prime accused in the so-called murder of her husband during their honeymoon in Meghalaya in May 2025, has surrendered surpassing a trial magistrate in Shillong without the Supreme Magistrate cancelled her ladle and ordered to surrender within three weeks.
When did Sonam Raghuvanshi surrender?
Police said Sonam Raghuvanshi, who is the prime accused in the murder case, and Raja Raghuvanshi's wife, was remanded to judicial custody on Tuesday.
Sonam, without the Supreme Magistrate decision, surrendered before a trial magistrate in Meghalaya. The Top Magistrate on July 23 revoked Sonam's ladle and ordered her to surrender within three weeks. The accused was underdeveloped in June last year over the murder of his husband.
Vivek Syiem, Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills district, Meghalaya informed that Sonam, who was residing in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, was remanded to judicial custody on Tuesday.

Meghalaya High Magistrate on June 29 upheld a trial court's ladle order in the specimen of Sonam Raghuvanshi. The Meghalaya government appealed this visualization to the Supreme Court. A seat of Justices M M Sundresh and P B Varale subsequently cancelled Sonam's ladle and wonted the Meghalaya government's petition. Supreme Magistrate moreover said that Sonam can file a fresh ladle petition in sparsity of any remoter proceedings in the trial and if the specimen is not tending of within six months.
What is the case?
Sonam Raghuvanshi was underdeveloped in June 2025 for the murder of her husband Raja Raghuvanshi. The couple had taken their honeymoon trip to Meghalaya. Both went missing in Sohra zone of this state, however. Without this, a big search operation was initiated by Meghalaya Police. Raja's soul was found in a deep ravine a few days later. Police said that Sonam conspired with her so-called lover, Raj Kushwaha, and hired killers to skiver Raja while he was on a honeymoon with her.
