Once counted among the most backward districts of the country, Chitrakoot is now writing a new chapter of development. Surrounded by hills and forests, this region is gradually becoming equipped with basic amenities. Especially in the area of healthcare services, the transformation has brought a new direction to the lives of villagers.
Health Centre Changed Lives
Sarainya, a small village in Manikpur block of Chitrakoot district, was once completely deprived of basic healthcare facilities. Today, the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in the village has become the most vital service for locals. After the establishment of this center, villagers no longer need to wander to Karwi, Manikpur, or other towns for treatment.
Ground Report
When the media team reached the Sarainya PHC, the scene was astonishing. Patients were present inside the hospital, but there was no chaos in the crowd. The arrangements were well-managed, and satisfaction was visible on the faces of the patients. When the media person spoke to patients including Macky and Suresh, they shared that earlier they had to travel 20–25 kilometres even for minor ailments. For something as small as a stomach ache or fever, they had to rush to Manikpur. Now, treatment is available right here in the village. The medical services are good, and medicines are free.
Treatment for Just Rs 1, Free Tests and Medicines
The pharmacist posted at the hospital informed that visiting patients are charged only 1 for an OPD slip. After that, all tests and medicines are completely free. He mentioned that around 80 to 100 patients come daily for treatment at the OPD.
Anti-Rabies and Anti-Snakebite Injections Also Available
Dog and snake bites are common and big concern in rural areas. But Sarainya PHC is well-prepared even on this front. Rabies injections and medications for snakebite prevention are also available here. According to the pharmacist, now if someone is bitten by a dog or snake, there’s no need to panic—immediate treatment is available right here.
