Your Guide to Filing Civic Complaints Online in Ahmedabad

Published: Jul 17, 2025

Think back. Remember the old days? Getting a city problem fixed meant so much hassle. You'd call a helpline. Additionally, it will most likely remain on hold indefinitely. Or you'd have to actually go to some municipal office.

Good news, though. If you're in Ahmedabad, there's actually a pretty powerful tool you’ve got. Right there, in your pocket, or on your desk. It’s the online civic complaint system.

Ready to Report? Let’s Get Started.

Visit the official Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) website. They usually have a special section. Something like "Citizen Services" or "Grievance Redressal." You might even see "CCRS" – that stands for Comprehensive Complaint Redressal System.

Step 1: Your First Stop – The AMC Website (Or Grab the App!)

Open your browser. Type in the official Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation website. You’re usually looking for something like ahmedabadcity.gov.in.
Did you know the AMC has a mobile app? It's often called "AMC Seva" or "Ahmedabad 311." You can grab it from the Google Play Store.

Step 2: Find the Complaint Spot. Dig Around a Bit.

Once you're on the website, just look around. You'll usually see a pretty obvious link or section. "Citizen Services," maybe "Online Complaints," or "Grievances." Sometimes, it’s just straight up "Complaint Registration." Click that.
Heads Up: Websites change! What we’re telling you now might look a tiny bit different when you go there. Anything about citizen feedback or complaints. You’ll find it.

Step 3: New Here? You'll Need to Register First.

Click "Citizen Registration" or "New User."

  • Give Them the Basics: They’ll ask for your name, your mobile number, your email ID. Maybe your address too. Seriously, double-check that mobile number. They often use it for verification codes and to send you updates.
  • Set Up Your Login: You’ll pick a username and a password. Write these down! Or save them somewhere safe. You'll need them every time you want to log in and check on your complaint.
  • Verify It (Probably with a Code): You'll probably get a one-time password (OTP) sent to your phone or email.

Why do this? Well, it links your complaint to you. It helps the AMC follow up. And, crucially, it lets you easily track what’s happening.

Step 4: Log In.

Now log in using your username and password. an option like "Lodge New Complaint" or "Register Complaint” appears. Go ahead, click it.

Step 5: Fill Out the Form – Be Super Specific!

Okay, this is important. This is where you tell them the problem.

Select the kind of problem? You’ll usually pick from a drop-down list. Choose the category that fits best. Common ones include:

  • Street Lights: Lights not working, those annoying flickering ones, damaged light poles.
  • Public Health Concerns: Mosquitoes driving you crazy, stray animals causing issues, just plain unhygienic spots.
  • Illegal Stuff: Unauthorized buildings, vendors blocking sidewalks.
  • Property Tax: Any issues with your tax assessment, payments, or even changing names.

Location: This is absolutely critical. You need to give them the exact spot.

  • Area: Which part of Ahmedabad? (Like Satellite, Maninagar, Navrangpura, you know the drill.)
  • Specific Address/Landmark: Is it right next to a shop? A house number? A famous landmark? Try to be super precise.
  • Ward/Zone (If they ask): If the system has this option, try to pick your specific ward or zone. It helps them route your complaint faster to the right department.

Describe the Problem: Explain what’s wrong. Clearly.

Keep it short but give enough detail. "Pothole on the main road in front of ABC School" is good.
Say what the impact is: Is it causing traffic jams? Is it a health hazard?
Photos - This is a total game-changer. Most systems let you add pictures. It proves the problem exists. It helps the department see exactly what they're dealing with.

Step 6: Review. Then Hit Submit.

Before you click that "Submit" button, just take a second. Look over everything.

  • Is all the info correct?
  • Is the location exactly right?
  • Is your description clear?
  • Did you remember to attach that photo? (If you have one, of course!)

Then submit it.

Step 7: Grab That Complaint Number! Seriously, Don't Lose It.

Right after you submit, the system will spit out a unique Complaint ID, a Token Number, or a Reference Number. Write this down. Save it. This number is pure gold. This is how you'll keep tabs on your complaint. You might also get a text or an email with it.

What Happens Next? Time to Track It.

This is where the real power of this online system comes in. You're not just screaming into the void anymore.

  • Go to "Track Complaint Status": Head back to the AMC website or open your app. Look for "Track Complaint Status" or maybe "My Complaints."
  • Punch in Your Number: Type in that unique ID you saved earlier.
  • See What's Up: The system will show you the current status. You might see things like:
  • "Registered" or "Pending" (It's in the system.)
  •  Assigned to Officer/Department" (The job has been assigned to someone.)
  • "In Progress" or "Work Underway" (They’re actually doing something!)
  • "Resolved" or "Closed" (Hopefully, it’s fixed!)
  • ""Reopened" (If you had to inquire further.)

What Kinds of Problems Can You Report Online?

The range of issues is actually pretty wide. Here are some of the most common ones people report:

  • Trash Problems: bins overflowing or illegal dumping
  • Roads: broken sidewalks or roads that need fixing
  • Water Issues: Low water pressure, no water at all, dirty water.
  • Drains and Sewage: stagnant water or blocked drains
  • Street Lights: flickering lights or damaged poles
  • Park problems include dangerous play equipment or broken seats.

Make Your Voice Heard

  • Be Spot-On with Location: Seriously, re-check that address. Everyone loses time when the address is incorrect.
  • Clear & To-the-Point: Don't write an essay. Just say what the problem is. Where is it?
  • Check Back Often: Look at the status every few days. It shows you’re serious.
  • Know Your Ward: If you know which municipal ward or zone you’re in, it can sometimes help them route your complaint even faster.

Beyond the Screen: Other Ways to Complain (Just in Case)

While online is usually your best bet, the AMC does offer other ways to complain:

  • Helpline: Call 155303. That’s the AMC’s special complaint line. It’s open 24/7.
  • SMS: Text 'AMCCRS NEW' to 56767. Someone will call you back for details.
  • WhatsApp Chatbot: Just send "Hi" to +91 7567855303. An automated system will guide you.
  • Go to a Civic Centre: If all else fails, or for really complex stuff, you can still visit your local City Civic Centre in person.

But really, the online portal or the app? That’s where you get the best tracking for your end.

Your Part in Making Ahmedabad Better. It Matters.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation is honestly trying to make things easier for us. By actually using these online tools, you’re not just complaining.

So, next time you see something that clearly needs fixing? Don't just sigh. Don't just walk by. Pull out your phone. Open your laptop. A few minutes of your time. That’s all it takes. It can make a genuine difference. Right there, in your neighborhood. And for the whole city. Your voice? It absolutely matters. Use it.
