Army's Response
Israeli officials said the military is currently in a defensive position only and will not urgently attack. They moreover stated that no troops have been withdrawn from Gaza.
Trump Welcomes Hamas Statement
The utterance came hours without Trump ordered Israel to halt bombing of Gaza. Hamas subsequently said it wonted some elements of Trump's plan. Trump welcomed Hamas' statement, saying, "I believe they are ready for lasting peace."
Trump and Netanyahu Single-minded to Ending the War
Trump appeared eager to fulfill his promises older this week, which included ending the war and bringing when dozens of hostages. The plan has received international support and has been endorsed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Netanyahu's office said Friday that Israel is single-minded to ending the war, which began without a Hamas attack, by October 7, 2023. However, some differences with the group remain.
An official told the Associated Press that Netanyahu issued a statement late Saturday saying Israel had begun preparations for Trump's plan due to pressure from the US administration. The official moreover said a negotiating team is ready to travel, but no stage has been set.
