Ayodhya: These days, the unshortened undercurrent in the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi pilgrimage zone is resonating with chanting of mantras and chants of Jai Shri Ram. On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself will hoist the saffron-colored religious flag on the peak of the grand temple of Ramlala. Three sacred symbols—Om, the Sun God, and the Kovidar tree—are inscribed on this historical flag. Suryadev: Symbol of Suryavanshi clan of Ram
Lord Rama was a Suryavanshi and was the 63rd king of the Ikshvaku dynasty. This dynasty started from Vaivaswat Manu, son of Suryadev. It is mentioned in Valmiki Ramayana that at the time of Ramlala's birth, the chariot of the Sun stopped and there was no night for a month. Surpassing killing Ravana, Maharishi Agastya taught Aditya Hridaya Stotra to Ram and victory over Ravana was achieved only through the worship of Surya. The picture of the Sun God on the flag reminds us of Suryavanshi pride and Ram's worship of the Sun.
Om: Sound of the universe, ultimate symbol associated with the name Ram
Om is considered the most sacred sound in Sanatan Dharma. This is the first sound of the universe. In the Mandukya Upanishad, Om has been tabbed the form of God. It is mandatory to pronounce Om surpassing chanting the name of Ram. Tulsidas ji has written in Ramcharitmanas that the power of the name Ram is awakened only by Om. Having Om on the flag will fill the temple with positive energy and connect every devotee with God.
Kovidar tree: warmed-over royal symbol of Ayodhya
The Kovidar tree (Kaner tree) was the royal tree of Ayodhya in Tretayuga. It is described in the Valmiki Ramayana (Ayodhya incident) that when Bharat reached Chitrakoot with his unwashed to bring when Ram, Lakshman saw the Kovidar tree on the flag from a loftiness and said that this is the unwashed of Ayodhya. Ram Mandir Trust chose this as its royal symbol so that the tradition of Tretayug could be revived. The flower of the Kovidar tree is of saffron verisimilitude that plane matches the verisimilitude of the flag.
