New Delhi: After presenting the Upkeep 2026-27, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that this time the upkeep is focused on increasing productivity and generating employment. Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, she said that the main objective of the upkeep is to strengthen the country's economy and provide employment opportunities to the youth.
Sitharaman said that the upkeep is not just an worth of government expenditure, but it is part of a long-term economic strategy. She emphasized that many such measures have been included in this upkeep which will uplift production, skill minutiae and employment generation.

The Finance Minister said that many schemes have been proposed in the upkeep to promote employment. She specifically said that new industrial policies, biopharma, electronics manufacturing and AI-based training programs will provide new opportunities to the youth. Sitharaman moreover said that this upkeep is welcome for farmers, small entrepreneurs and workers, as it will modernize both the demand and supply sides of employment.
