When the bowler was asked about why he did not celebrate his fifer in the post-match press conference, Bumrah replied, "The reality is that I was tired. There was no happiness factor. I bowled for a long time on the field, and sometimes I get tired. I'm not 21-22 anymore that I'll jump around. I'm usually not like that. I was happy that I contributed. Other than that, I just wanted to go back to my mark and bowl the next ball.”
Bumrah's name written on the honours board
After a sensational fifer that rattled England's batting line-up, Bumrah's name has been etched in the history of the sport. As the tradition is, a bowler claiming a fifer or a batter scoring a century at the home of cricket has his name put up on the Lord's honours board. The last time an Indian bowler made it to the honours board was way back in 2014, when Ishant Sharma picked up 7/74.
Bumrah's comeback at Lord's
The bowler was rested for the Edgbaston test, which India won in emphatic style. He was included in the 11 for the Lord's test and did not disappoint. It is confirmed that Bumrah will play only three matches in the five-match test series to manage his workload after a horrifying back injury earlier this year.
